WHO WE ARE
Ghostielocks seeks to challenge the monetary aspect of designing- the regurgitation of ideas based off of previous selling. Instead, the designer seeks to capture the idea of wearable art and individuality in their garments through the constant exploration of techniques. With the experimentation of new mediums- the designer does not seek perfection, as perfection often blocks our creativity and inhibits newness. Our focus is not on perfectly printed pieces, but rather innovation in design.
Working with a blank garment as their canvas, each piece focuses on individualism resulting in one of a kind, hand-made pieces. By shifting the focus on the idea of wearable art, the designer is able to celebrate the identity of the wearer and reject the idea of gender based clothing.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
At Ghostielocks we believe in embracing imperfections and fixing our idea of what is broken. Through our experimentation, we often find our “mistakes” lead to innovation and unique new techniques. In doing so we begin to bridge the gap between art and design.
At Ghostielocks we aim to prevent wastage as much as possible. If one of our products or inventory has a hole, we will mend the garment and reduce the price. We strongly believe in adding value back into clothing and reject the idea that these imperfections do not make an item saleable.
ABOUT THE DESIGNER
From a very early age, I found myself immersed in art. Art was not only a means of expression and creativity but also an essential form of communication. Being neurodivergent, I often found myself unable to communicate with the world around me, but was able to find my voice through my work.
While attending FIT, I formed an undying love and passion for screen printing. I spent countless hours in the screen printing studio experimenting with this new medium. This curiosity and experimentation is what started Ghostielocks a few months later.
While beginning my career in the fashion industry, the brand was put on halt to focus on excelling in my field. A few years later with the outbreak of the pandemic, I found myself on furlough reevaluating, not only my life, but sense of purpose. While everything was put on hold I had the time to go back to my roots, delving further into experimentation.
With the relaunch, I began exploring new techniques in combination with screen printing and designing actual products from scratch. The brand was no longer solely based on screen printing, but rather merging art with design.
